Learning From Academic Dishonesty

Date: January 10, 2023
Time: 4:00–5:00pm
Facilitator(s): Lily Stasik, Wisconsin Virtual School (WVS) Teacher

Do you think that academic dishonesty is worse now than it has been in the past? Would you be surprised to know that it's not? Research in this area gives insight into what motivates students to cheat. Understanding that research can help us to structure a learning environment that reduces cheating, promotes academic integrity and, by doing so enhances learning. Using James Lang's book Cheating Lessons: Learning From Academic Dishonesty as a guide, we'll explore some of this research and some strategies for reducing the academic dishonesty problem.
